We were commissioned by the municipality, the Diemtigtal Nature Park, and the owners of the Hotel Spillgerten to develop a concept for a new hotel building.

Structural change in mountain regions poses major challenges for traditional businesses, and the outdated infrastructure no longer meets the needs of today’s target groups.

Our proposal was a replacement building that retains the old basement while adding a minimalist, regionally produced wooden structure above ground. Flexible in use, high in design quality and materials, yet modest in scale and investment volume.

The project also serves as a flagship for sustainable energy: the self-sufficient building is powered entirely by biomass and solar energy.
